Volunteer

Enjoy the music, art and energy of CAC events from behind the scenes. Volunteering at the CAC gives you the opportunity to see how the CAC continually puts on great art exhibitions, theatrical productions, musical performances, outrageous parties, and major community events. Plus, mingle with other volunteers in the arts community.

Volunteers are needed periodically for large special events, and also more regularly to help our reduced staff. To sign up for general volunteer emails, sign up for our email announcements.

Internships

A CAC internship offers students a unique opportunity to develop nonprofit administration skills while working in a nationally recognized multidisciplinary arts organization. It also helps students to become familiar with the organizational skills and routines needed to effectively support an organization like the CAC.

Interns are asked to work at least 16-24 hours a week through the semester. There is an interview and evaluation process if the student is using the internship for school credit. Interns will be expected to demonstrate individual initiative and assume specialized duties respective to one of the following areas:

Development — The CAC Development Office initiates annual individual, foundation, and corporate fundraising campaigns to help support the multidisciplinary programs presented to the community. The Development Office also coordinates several major fundraising events, such as CAC’Art for Arts’ Sake and the SweetArts Ball, that help support the quality programming which makes the CAC the foremost presenting organization in the South. Duties include planning and assisting with special projects and events, clerical management of corporate records, high level planning meetings with key staff and community leaders.

Education and Public Programs—The CAC education and public engagement department offers the opportunity for students to work with arts administrators in a world-class multi-disciplinary arts institution as they plan and produce artist-driven events, performances, lectures, conversations, gallery tours, and hand-on workshops that engage and inform audiences from all segments of the public. Interns will assist with programs for children, families, artists, and educators and will gain experience collaborating with other segments of the community including schools, museums, arts agencies, etc.

Membership — assist in annual campaign, learn to manage a membership database, update membership files, assist with special membership events, interact with all membership levels and maintain member benefits.

These internships offer the student a unique opportunity to develop nonprofit administration skills while working in a nationally recognized multidisciplinary arts organization. It also helps the students to become familiar with the organizational skills and routines needed to effectively support an organization like the CAC.
